"I have been interested in the STEM fields ever since the age of 5, when my parents introduced me to documentaries and TV series like Walking with Dinosaurs, The Human Body, and The Planets. However, during my formative primary school years my interest dissipated. Looking back on this, it may have been due to a lack of teaching in the area. Once hitting high school, I found solace in STEM, particularly biology after I was bullied by my peers. This reignited my passion for science and I followed biology through high school, where I achieved endeavour awards for highest grades in my biology classes. In secondary school, I followed my STEM pathway.  I completed an International baccalaureate diploma, with advanced certificates in biology, physics and psychology. I found my high and secondary teachers to be very supportive and inclusive, they helped push me to strive towards my future tertiary academia path.

When I first applied to ANU, I wished to complete and flexible double degree of Psychology and biology, however, I found that the only psychology that really interested me was abnormal psychology, so I dropped this favouring a bachelor of science majoring in biology.  As I as originally interested in abnormal psychology, it seemed fitting to pursue a neuroscience and physiology specialization.

During my undergraduate degree, I have flitted between interests, and have flitted between future career paths. I am taking the GAMSAT next year as an option to go into medicine, and I am also keeping my eye out for masters applications as well. Whatever I do in the future, I am hopeful it will be in a way that can help my fellow man, either with research or with direct hands on application."
