Working for a better tomorrow, today

"In High School, I always felt like I fighting to prove why I was in the higher level math classes and hard sciences. I saw many female friends drop out of STEM out of fear of failing leaving the classes male dominated. It always seemed that it was okay for guys to just scrape by while girls had to very well in STEM classes to justify their presence. I think that the high school education systems need to get more girls in STEM at an earlier age."

"Biology is a historically male dominated field, however, today there are many intelligent and successful female academics. I think that out of the areas in STEM biology is one of the most accessible to women. In my honors cohort all the students in my department are women identifying people. I see this has a huge achievement for biology. The department I’m in has many strong and intelligent women leading their own labs. I think that the ANU RSB has done well to make women feel welcome. RSB does a good job of nurturing and encouraging all students. My experience with the RSB has been overwhelming positive."
